Overview map | |
Originally there was a Shivas family here. In 1467 the estate went to the Earl of Huntly and was granted to a younger son, the last of whose line was Sir George Gordon, who died in 1568, when Schivas went to the Greys. In the 1570’s the Greys, commissioned Thomas Leiper to build them an L-plan house similar in layout with the main rooms at Tolquhon, a later design by Leiper.
