The lands of Glentanar (Glentanner) came into the possession on the Gordons during the time of Alexander Seton 1st Earl of Huntly, as part of the grants of land that included Strathbogie and Aboyne. There would have been some form of fortified house to accompany the lands, and this seems to be the best evidence for it. Canmore and The Aberdeenshire Council both list a "Lord's House-Glentaner" at this site from ancient maps. There are reports of some form of ruins at this locations 'My Lord's House; a square drystone building; ruinous; allegedly a view-point for watching deer.' but the site is so remote and rugged that the claims have remained unconfirmed and I have not been able to find any photographic evidence.
